We started our journey in last week of September 2015, according to met department the rainy season is yet to pause at that time. Generally the first week of september is the commencement of season for visiting mountains as then the rains shall stop. But we took risk we started one week earlier and our journey to divine Himalayas started on 25th of december. We proceeded from haridwar then to Deradun and from there went to the first sacred point - Yamunotri.
At Deradun one must see the Sahasra Dhara falls , the area Deradun where Dronacharya ( master of Arjuna) performed austarities - "Dera of Drona".
In that journey our halt was at Paligad, a locality 5-6 km earlier than Hanuman chatti on our way to yamunotri. We stayed there in a road side simple dhaba. Next day woke up early and reached the point from where the 6km trekking starts up hill around 6am in the morning.
We walked to the temple. It was a wonderful and memorable experience walking in the jungle up the hill through stairs made of stone . The serene environment was asking me to sit and dive within.
The steep road we trekked to reach the main temple was very exhaustive . However there is a hot water spring there at temple on top of the mountain. We took bath there. It is a sacred place to take bath. the hot water removed all the pain of journey from my body. It was wonderful.
